2 New Book Reviews

It’s Monday, friends, and the first full workweek for most of us since the holidays. We can do it… I hope. Over New Year’s, I got a chance to read two new books, and I wanted to share a quick review of them with y’all. These were both recommended to me from Grace & Becca over at Bad on Paper Podcast which, if you’re not listening to, you really should.

The Flatshare.
My Synopsis: If you’re a fan of British rom-coms, this is the book for you. If you’re a fan of rom-coms, this is the book for you. The Flatshare is the story of Tiffy, a recently-single woman in search of a new place to leave. Enter Leon, who works the night shift. He’s in search of a roommate… except that he lives in a one-bedroom apartment.
When Tiffy agrees to a weird arrangement where she has the apartment in the evenings and on the weekends and Leon has it during the daytime, these two people began the journey towards an unlikely friendship. Tiffy begins leaving Leon notes, and then he writes notes in return, and over time, their lives began to intersect more and more. As they learn more about each other, their friendship begins to evolve into something different.

I would give this book an 7.5/10. Beth O’Leary, the author, manages to weave some very serious topics (gas-lighting, terminal illness) into a beautiful romance. I finished this book in less than 36 hours because I just had to keep reading. I had to know how Tiffy and Leon’s story played out! It’s a perfect beach read or rainy weekend read. Curl up with a good cup of tea or coffee and a blanket, and lose yourself in this book. You can purchase The Flatshare here. 

 

 

The Unhoneymooners.
My Synopsis: I’ve heard a lot of great things about Christina Lauren’s books (fun fact, Christina Lauren is actually two people writing the book together. I’m sold! Can’t wait to purchase more of their books ASAP (even though I’m trying not to spend any extra money in January).
The Unhoneymooners is the story of Olive and Ethan, the only two members of a wedding party who don’t get sick with horrible food-poisoning during the wedding reception of Ami, Olive’s twin sister, and Dane, Ethan’s younger brother. Olive and Ethan don’t like each other very much, but they decide to go on the honeymoon together—10 days in Maui shouldn’t go to waste, right? But as they embark on a trip together, planning to spend as much time apart as possible, it quickly becomes clear that Olive and Ethan are going to have a hard time hating each other. Because, turns out, they might actually like each other a little…

I give this book a 7.5/10, too! I actually read it in one day! It’s a light, fun read, and the storyline definitely had some unexpected twists. If you liked the movie Just Go With It starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler (I loved that movie), you’ll definitely like this book! You can purchase The Unhoneymooners here.
